CRIKEY! Well ‘Crikey!’, an exclamation of surprise or shock and it is pretty much what this painting is about. It is almost punk with its spikes and pertaining to pop-art at the same time due to the Ben-day dots (Lichtenstein), which can even be relevant to nowadays, catching attention. This is probably how the two movements I have mentioned relate to issues of their days, shouting, shocking. I was very young when punk was around, not understanding much and was not around further back at the height of pop-art. However, I see them as a continuation of each other as they both tackle the commercialism or capitalism of our lives and I would say punk even more so. I certainly think that we have not given much notice though and plodded on. We only have to take notice, or try to at least, if we give a chance at the technological living of today. It is true that history repeats itself then. The painting itself is done on a gallery wrapped canvas, which is painted on all sides with different colours, as one may see in the additional images. This way, no frame would be required. All the markings and the signature are on the rear side, so as to give the painting more versatility in turning the painting on whichever side one wishes to and not look odd with the signature in a peculiar corner.

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.
