I've always been attracted to wooden feet. There's just something about their stability - their grounded-ness. So when I found shoe forms at flea markets and yard sales I began collecting them. Eventually I made a series of works called FEATS with every size and shape of shoe form with many attached to the old metal roller skates from the 1950's. C-FOOT was one of that series that became a work all on its own. I've found these tiny shoe lasts for baby shoes a number of times and they always give my heart a twinge. The baby shoe/foot brings to mind how as an infant we come into this world perfect and all-knowing, but then the world beats us up and we forget all we once knew about what's really important, like love! In my older age, I'm finally beginning to see that the hard knocks are actually there to wake us up to our true selves and our connection to all that exists. C-FOOT says, "carry your club high -- don't beat yourself with it!" C-FOOT is made from a child-sized wooden shoe mold, a wooden mallet and a wood box lid assembled with love.
