Shiprock is a monadnock rising above the high-desert plain of the Navajo Nation. The Navajo name for the peak, Tsé Bitʼaʼí, "rock with wings" or "winged rock", refers to the legend of the great bird that brought the Navajo from the north to their present lands. After several attempts I hadn’t been able to convey the mysticism I feel standing before Shiprock and was visiting again, wondering if it was meant to be done as Astro-Photography” when I happened upon this intriguing light. To paraphrase Ansel Adams, Sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time. I hope this image gives you a feel for how special this place truly is. I offer This Digital Photo in limited edition, archival, dye sublimation ChromaLuxe HD Metal Prints in standard print sizes up to 40”x60”. Each print comes with a signed certificate verifying its edition number within the series. Please email for the price if you would prefer a smaller print.

As a visual artist, I have spent the past 40 years finding fresh perspectives on a tremendous range of subjects. From advertising to corporate marketing to my own personal landscape and nature work, I am known for my unique perspective. It is who I am. As I evolve into my later years, I find my only real interest is in fine art landscapes, nature and nudes. And while my use of color has always been my hallmark, it continues to evolve each day. Each time I re-immerse myself in the beauty of nature, I’m forced to reexamine myself as to who I am and where I fit within the universe. This reevaluation of self opens me further to the wonder of life and my place within it. It intensifies the depth of my artistic vision. Each time I move further outside of myself, it increases my ability to see as a visual artist.
