Kerry takes inspiration from strong beautiful women from all genres and this particular image reminded her of Wonder Woman - one of her favourite DC good gals. Painted using bright colours, the silhouette of the woman underwater looks upon her hand in contemplation. Named after a line spoken by Gal Gadot in the 2017 film “Wonder Woman”, Kerry has used bright reds, blues and bronze to capture her Wonder Woman. As with most of Kerry's paintings, she has painted in layers. The background using action painting (expressionistic) techniques - pouring, dripping, splashing paint and involving my body in the painting process rather than just the paint brush. The figure was created using contemporary art pop art techniques and stencils, and a further layer of hand painting brought the foreground and background together. Kerry's palette is colourful and uses strong contrasts to capture a mood of strength. Painted onto un-stretched canvas, the face of the painting measures 163cm x 107cm, and Kerry has allowed a further 8 cm all around the painting to allow for stretching by your preferred professional framer. This further 8 cm will give you a painted edge to carry around the sides of your stretched canvas. Don't be put off by the fact it's not stretched and ready to hang. With a reduced carbon footprint, and lowered risk, your painting travelling in a thick tube rather than a big wooden crate makes sense environmentally and is far more cost effective for you.

Australia
Kerry was born in Wudinna, a remote and tiny dusty town in South Australia, in 1972. This was a time and culture where women weren't allowed in the local pub and were expected to quit work when they got married. She distinctly recalls seeing articles about Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol as a teenager but thought the art world was a world where she couldn't belong - girls were supposed to marry farmers and have children. After a diversion into a "sensible career" and motherhood, Kerry went back to her passion and was conceptually trained through the South Australian School of Art in 2012, with a Bachelor of Visual Art, Specialisation Painting. During her studies, she turned to her love of stencil-making and action painting techniques with acrylic paint and created her own style. Kerry won the UniSA Medal for her outstanding academic and artistic results, and in 2013 her artwork was selected by top South Australian art-aficionado's, including the then Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Nick Mitzevich (now director of the National Gallery of Australia), to participate in The Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition - an incredible honour for any SA graduating tertiary art student. Today she works as an underwater photographer and painter from her home studio in Darwin, Northern Territory. She has participated in many group and solo shows. Her artwork is held in private collections in New Zealand, The United States, Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong, and all-around Australia. She was selected as a Finalist in the 2021 Bluethumb Art Award, and her upcoming projects include a two-month residency in Germany, which will be followed by her first international solo show. She has also just been selected as a Finalist for The Percival Photographic Portrait Prize 2024. Her mission is to uplift women with her art – this is the engine that fires her entire practice.
