I choose abstract imagery because I am interested in what each viewer individually brings to the work. I am also very interested Jungian archetypes and their emergence from my subconscious as I work intuitively." For the work’s physical elements I utilize found or repurposed materials mined from disposable culture USA. This, combined with archetypical imagery and their symbolic mythologies, I am bringing into realization images that I believe come from my psyche. "Blue Angels" in particular came about from my use of mixed materials, I used semi-dried out house paint and a little plaster to give the ground its textural quality. I like then how the paint moves upon the uneven surface. Since I use different ways of applying the paint, spraying, dripping and brushing, or spraying spray paint into a cup and then brushing... I get a lot of different effects. I am also interested in using recycled materials, both the ground and the frame are from scavenged wood. I frame my work myself and was really happy with the contrast of the extra-wide black frame and the painting itself.
